“Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe welcomed his first child in 2023 but kept his arrival private.
He met the love of his life and the mother of his child on set ten years ago, and the couple is still going strong.

Daniel Radcliffe is best known for his titular role in the “Harry Potter” franchise and is much-beloved worldwide. Although he has had an incredibly successful Hollywood career, his private life is much quieter.
Radcliffe generally remains out of the public eye unless he is attending some Hollywood event, and his enjoyment of privacy has extended to his life as a father. The actor welcomed his first child earlier this year but kept it private.
Radcliffe and his partner, Erin Darke, met on set over a decade ago, and sparks flew. The pair have since been in a loving relationship, and in late April this year, they welcomed their first child together.
Darke and Radcliffe were first seen with their son in New York shortly after his birth. Radcliffe pushed a stroller containing the infant, while his partner followed closely behind.
Radcliffe was recently seen out with his son as he joined the SAG-AFTRA picket line last week. Darke accompanied Radcliffe as they fought for living wages. This is only the third time the couple has been seen out with their child, with the first two being in April soon after his birth.
Radcliffe and his wife welcomed their baby in April and have not been seen out much since then, as Radcliffe has taken some time off work. They have remained out of the public eye, enjoying their bundle of joy for the past couple of months.
How Did Radcliffe Find Love with His Co-star Who Made Him A Dad?
Darke and Radcliffe met on the set of “Kill Your Darlings” in 2012, and they have been dating ever since. Speaking about what it was like for him to spend most of his life on a movie set, Radcliffe shared:
“All the private moments of where you grew up were off camera, aside from meeting the girl who is the love of my life.”
He also said that their meeting on the “Kill Your Darlings” set would be an interesting story to tell their children one day because of the raunchy scene in which their characters met and their subsequent relationship.
During their relationship, the couple has run into many rumors. One of the rumors they faced revolved around them getting married, which led Darke to phone her family and tell them that she promised if she was getting married, they would find out from her and not from a news publication.
Radcliffe said that there had been a rumor three times that he and Darke would marry on a lake in Michigan, with Emma Watson being the maid of honor and Rupert Grint being the best man.
Radcliffe also talked about having children with Darke before they announced the birth of their son. The actor said that he would like to have his children visit sets while he worked, and perhaps, pursue a career in Hollywood, too, though not as early as he did.
Instead, he wants to ensure that they have a good childhood and aren’t famous as children like he was. He shared:
“I wouldn’t want fame for my kid.”
Now that his son has been born, Radcliffe has stuck true to his words and ensured that he has not been exposed to the public eye very much. He has only recently shared a few words about him.
How Did Radcliffe Open Up About His New Baby?
While Darke and Radcliffe welcomed their child back in April, they did not reveal the gender of their newborn until recently. Radcliffe opened up about being a father and shared that his child was a son.
Radcliffe shared that his journey in fatherhood so far had been “crazy and intense” but that he was thoroughly enjoying it. The actor also mentioned that Darke was incredible with their son, and he felt privileged to have this time with her and their son.
The “Harry Potter” alum shared that he had been able to take some time off when his son was born, which not many others can do, and he was grateful that he got to spend so much time with his son and his girlfriend.
Although his son is now only a few months old, Radcliffe shared that he would certainly be thinking about him when considering roles or other projects from here on out.
Radcliffe shared that because he was having a great time spending critical moments with his son, he knew he would miss the little one when he returned to work later this year. He then shared:
“So, I will definitely be, I think, a bit more selective — not more selective, I’ve always been selective, but I think I’ll probably work a little bit less for the next few years.”
However, Radcliffe assured fans that he would not be ending his career due to fatherhood because he does not believe that never acting again would be any good for him in the long run.
Now that Radcliffe’s son is older, he says that he has become cuter as he has entered a phase in which he is screaming and crying a little less and instead giving his parents cute smiles and giggles when they interact with him.
The actor admitted that becoming a father had resulted in a crazy few months for him and his girlfriend and joked that he was sure every parent knew what he was talking about. Yet he also spoke about how lucky he felt to be a father.
Radcliffe said that since his son has grown a little over the past few months, he and Darke are finally getting some sleep, and he is enjoying being a first-time parent to the little tike.
